Joi Harris Named DTE Energy CEO

Joi Harris’s journey with DTE Energy began as a high school engineering co-op, leading to a full-time position in 1991. Over the past 34 years, she has held various leadership roles, including President and Chief Operating Officer of DTE Gas Company and Senior Vice President of DTE Energy.

As president and COO, Harris oversaw the company’s electric and gas utilities, customer service, information technology, and safety divisions. She also led the construction of renewable energy projects and the $1 billion Blue Water Energy combined cycle gas plant. Under her leadership, DTE has seen a 70% year-over-year improvement in electric reliability in 2024.

Jerry Norcia, who served as CEO since 2019, will now serve as Executive Chairman. His tenure included expanding support for low-income customers through initiatives like the Low-Income Self-Sufficiency Program. David Ruud will be appointed as Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer, with adjustments to his compensation reflecting his expanded responsibilities.
