Blazing Bagels, established in Redmond in 2001, had grown into a local favorite, known for its bagels and community focus. The company produced over 7 million bagels annually. Despite efforts to revamp the menu and form local partnerships, the business ultimately succumbed to bankruptcy.

Founder Dennis Ballen stepped away from the business in 2025, passing it on to his daughters. The company faced a legal battle with the city of Redmond in the mid-2000s over signage, which it won with the help of the Institute for Justice.
