Wendy Williams' Guardianship Upheld Amid Dementia Diagnosis Dispute

Wendy Williams has been under legal guardianship since May 2022, managing both her finances and health. The recent medical evaluation, prompted by ongoing legal battles and concerns about her well-being, has reportedly confirmed the initial diagnoses of FTD and aphasia. However, the dispute over the validity of these diagnoses highlights the complexities of guardianship cases and the challenges of balancing an individual's autonomy with their need for protection.

The legal documents obtained by People Magazine indicated a significant number of tests were performed to reach the conclusion.

Kevin Hunter filed a lawsuit in June alleging abuse, neglect, and financial harm under the guardianship, requesting a new impartial guardian, unsealed court records, and $250 million in damages.

The situation is further complicated by Williams' own claims of competency. In March, after being briefly released from her assisted care facility, she claimed to have passed competency tests 'with flying colors'.
