Minnesota Senator's Burglary Trial: Prosecution Rests, Defense Begins

These items included ashes, pictures, clothes, and other personal belongings.

Police found Mitchell in the basement dressed in all black, with a flashlight covered by a black sock. A backpack containing laptops, a cellphone, a driver’s license, Senate identification, and Tupperware products was also recovered.

The prosecution presented bodycam footage showing Mitchell's arrest and her statements to the police. They argued that Mitchell's actions were pre-planned, pointing to the fact that she parked down the road from the home.

The defense is expected to argue that Mitchell was acting out of concern for her stepmother and was attempting to retrieve her father's belongings peacefully. The trial is ongoing, and the jury could receive the case as soon as Thursday.
