Oklo and Lightbridge Collaborate on Advanced Nuclear Fuel Manufacturing

Oklo (NYSE: OKLO&ref=yanuki.com) and Lightbridge (NASDAQ: LTBR&ref=yanuki.com) have announced a strategic collaboration to assess the feasibility of co-locating a Lightbridge fuel fabrication facility within Oklo’s advanced fuel manufacturing infrastructure. This initiative aims to accelerate the commercialization of advanced nuclear fuels through joint fuel fabrication and R&D, including manufacturing fuel using repurposed plutonium from legacy materials. This partnership directly supports federal directives to achieve domestic fuel independence.

The co-located facility is designed to support the production of advanced fuels for both fast reactors and light water reactors, reinforcing the commitment of both companies to U.S. leadership in advanced nuclear fuel manufacturing and recycling. The collaboration seeks to strengthen domestic energy security, support advanced reactor deployment, improve the performance of existing light water reactors, and enhance the resilience of the nuclear fuel supply chain.

This effort aligns with executive orders issued by the White House in May 2025 that prioritize the acceleration of U.S. nuclear energy deployment, including the establishment of a program to process surplus plutonium and make it available for advanced reactor fuel.
