Dead & Company Celebrate Grateful Dead’s 60th Anniversary in San Francisco

Dead & Company’s upcoming concerts at Golden Gate Park mark a significant milestone in the Grateful Dead’s legacy. The band, featuring John Mayer alongside original members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, will bring their signature jam-band sound to the Polo Fields, where they are expected to draw up to 60,000 attendees each day.

The choice of Golden Gate Park as the venue holds historical significance, as the Grateful Dead frequently played there during their formative years. One of their most famous early appearances was at The Great Human Be-In on January 14, 1967, a pivotal event in the Summer of Love.

In 1975, a year in which the Grateful Dead only performed four public shows, they played at Lindley Meadow in Golden Gate Park, solidifying the park’s place in the band’s history. The upcoming concerts continue this tradition, blending the band’s rich past with their current iteration.

Opening acts like Billy Strings, Sturgill Simpson, and Trey Anastasio Band add further appeal to these anniversary shows, promising diverse musical experiences for concert-goers. These concerts are not only a celebration of the Grateful Dead’s music but also a significant economic event for San Francisco, potentially generating substantial revenue for the local economy.

The concerts will be held August 1-3 at Golden Gate Park’s Polo Fields in San Francisco.
