Kilby Block Party 2026: Indie Music Superbowl
Kilby Block Party 2026 is transforming Salt Lake City into an indie music mecca. Drawing an estimated 90,000 attendees over three days, this...
Event:: UK Proms in the Park
Dates:: July 4th & 5th, 2025
Location:: Carlisle Castle
Host:: Helen Skelton (Saturday, July 5th)
Performers:: UK Dance Anthems Orchestra (Friday), UK Proms Orchestra (Saturday), The Siglo Section (Saturday support), DJ Cheadle (Friday interval).
Why this matters:: This event brings a high-profile classical and modern orchestral experience, akin to the famous 'Last Night of the Proms', directly to Carlisle, set against the historic backdrop of the castle.
The UK Proms in the Park event promises a memorable weekend at Carlisle Castle, a fortress that once guarded the Anglo-Scottish border and will now resonate with music.
Friday, July 4th: The weekend kicks off with the 30-piece UK Dance Anthems Orchestra taking the stage at 7:30 PM (gates open 5:30 PM). They will guide the audience through four decades of classic dance tunes, complemented by soloists and dancers. DJ Cheadle will perform during the interval.
Saturday, July 5th: Hosted by Helen Skelton, the evening begins with support act 'The Siglo Section' at 6:00 PM (gates open 5:30 PM), performing Postmodern Jukebox-style tunes. At 7:30 PM, the UK Proms Orchestra, conducted by David Danford and Joe Davies, will perform beloved classical pieces from TV, film, and theatre, culminating in the traditional 'Last Night of the Proms' classics.
UK Proms Director Peter Metcalfe stated, “We wanted to provide people across Carlisle a ‘Last Night of The Prom’ experience on their doorstep. Carlisle Castle is the perfect venue, and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever.”
Artistic Director Holly Teague added, "Carlisle Castle was such a special concert for us last year, and this year we’ve tweaked and tuned the programmes for both evenings to give you more of everything! More music, more singing, more dancing, more fun!"
The event is part of a wider UK tour visiting eight historic locations. Attendees can also enjoy street food from the award-winning Digbeth Dining Club and drinks from three available bars.
