McDonald's Adds Spicy McMuffins to Menus Nationwide

McDonald's is spicing up its breakfast offerings with the introduction of Spicy McMuffins. This limited-time menu addition includes the Spicy Egg McMuffin, Spicy Sausage McMuffin, and Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg. Each sandwich features the chain's signature Spicy Pepper Sauce, adding a layer of heat to the classic McMuffin experience.

The Egg McMuffin, the inspiration behind this spicy rendition, was created in 1971 by fast-food executive Herb Peterson. Originally, Peterson envisioned Eggs Benedict but adapted the recipe, replacing Hollandaise sauce with cheese and adding Canadian bacon. The Egg McMuffin was test-marketed in 1972 and launched nationally in 1975 for just 63 cents.

McDonald's has previously experimented with heat on its breakfast menu, including the addition of jalapeño slices. However, the Spicy McMuffins mark the first time the chain has used its proprietary hot sauce blend in its breakfast sandwiches.

With this launch, McDonald's aims to capture customers looking for something new and exciting while honoring a long-standing breakfast favorite. The limited availability of the Spicy McMuffins encourages customers to visit sooner rather than later.

The Spicy McMuffins include a Spicy Egg McMuffin, Spicy Sausage McMuffin, and Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg. They all feature McDonald's Spicy Pepper Sauce.

The Spicy McMuffins will be available starting July 8 for a limited time.
