They emphasized their commitment to polishing the game and adding more elaborate features than its predecessor. According to Team Cherry, Silksong features more elaborate bosses, more gameplay systems, and more interactivity. The team also wanted objects in the game world to react to Hornet's various tools, which required a significant amount of drawing and animation work. Team Cherry co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen explained that they consistently underestimated the time and effort required to achieve their vision. They also noted that they were having fun developing the game and were not pressured to rush the release. The new trailer showcases a vibrant world with over 200 new enemies and 40 new bosses.
