The incident began when MJ Daffue, playing on a medical exemption, failed to meet the required World Ranking points to maintain his PGA Tour eligibility. However, the Tour mistakenly placed him in the highest-ranking category, granting him a spot in the field.

Rayhan Thomas, who was next in line as the first alternate, was subsequently excluded. Thomas had waited at the course all day, with his father flying in from Dubai to watch him play. The Korn Ferry Tour acknowledged the error and is working to find a solution for Thomas, who is currently 107th in points with one regular-season event remaining. A good result in the upcoming Albertsons Boise Open and subsequent playoff events is critical for Thomas to secure full KFT status for next season.

Daffue, despite the error, is allowed to continue playing in the tournament. As of Saturday morning, he was tied for third place. The situation is reminiscent of a similar LPGA error involving Sophia Popov, although in that case, Popov's points were retroactively removed.
