Justin Thomas Copies Cameron Young's Putter, Contends at Truist Championship

Justin Thomas, frustrated with his putting performance since returning from back surgery, decided to switch to Cameron Young's putter. Thomas had been struggling on the greens, ranking No. 152 on the PGA Tour in strokes gained putting. After seeing Young's success with the Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R Tour Prototype, Thomas requested the same putter from his Titleist rep. This change immediately impacted his game, with Thomas ranking top 10 in strokes gained putting this week.

During the first two rounds of the Truist Championship, Thomas was grouped with Young, which led to a humorous situation when they realized they were wearing the same shoes. Thomas joked about copying Young, but emphasized the importance of feeling confident with his putter. His improved putting has placed him in contention at Quail Hollow, where he previously won the 2017 PGA Championship. With the PGA Championship approaching, Thomas aims to stay patient and continue improving his game.

He was struggling with his putting and sought to improve his confidence and performance by using the same putter as Cameron Young.

Thomas has seen a significant improvement in his putting stats, ranking top 10 in strokes gained putting this week.
