Chris Weidman's UFC Hall of Fame Induction and Colby Covington Wrestling Match

Chris Weidman, a former UFC middleweight champion, will be inducted into the 2026 UFC Hall of Fame, alongside Demetrious Johnson, Dominick Cruz, Thomas Gerbasi, and the UFC 248 fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili. Weidman, known for his upset victory over Anderson Silva at UFC 162, expressed his surprise and honor at the induction. His career trajectory included a dominant start with 13 consecutive wins, followed by a decline in his later fights.

In an unexpected twist, Colby Covington called out Weidman for a wrestling match at RAF 9. Weidman, a two-time All-American wrestler, accepted the challenge, viewing it as a test of his current abilities against Covington's perceived underestimation. Despite a long hiatus from competitive wrestling (since 2009) and numerous surgeries, Weidman is confident in his wrestling skills. He had also signed for a boxing match against Anderson Silva, but had to withdraw due to injury. This wrestling match allows him to stay active as a competitor.

The matchup is scheduled for May 30. Weidman has named potential future opponents such as Khamzat Chimaev, Bo Nickal and Luke Rockhold.

Weidman was completely caught off guard and felt honored.

Covington called him out for a match at RAF 9, and Weidman accepted the challenge.

His last competitive wrestling match was in 2009.
