Nancy Meyers Returns with All-Star Comedy for Christmas 2027

Nancy Meyers' return to directing marks a significant moment for fans of her signature style of glossy, heartfelt comedies. After a hiatus, her new film promises to deliver the same aspirational qualities that made her previous movies hits. The move from Netflix to Warner Bros. is noteworthy. Reportedly, Netflix balked at the initial budget of $150 million, leading Meyers to Warner Bros., where the film is expected to be made at a significantly lower cost. This transition highlights the evolving economics of film production, with traditional studios like Warner Bros. still valuing the theatrical experience. With all those zeroes off the budget, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group heads Pam Abdy and Mike DeLuca hammered out a deal to resurrect Meyers’ script and deliver it to audiences starved for her signature charms.

Meyers will produce the project with Ilona Herzberg. Diana Pokorny will executive produce.

The film is set to be released on Christmas Day 2027, positioning it as a major holiday season offering. This release date could provide a substantial boost to its box office performance. Currently, there are no other wide entries on Christmas Day 2027, but the Meyers movie will bow in the wake of Warner Bros/New Line’s The Hunt for Golum and Disney/Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17.
