In 'They Will Kill You,' Kirill Sokolov presents a Tarantino-inspired revenge farce that ultimately crashes and burns. The film stars Zazie Beetz as Asia, a woman who infiltrates a satanic cult housed in a luxury hotel to rescue her sister. However, the movie's premise quickly sours, with derivative formal flourishes that recall other, better films.

The story follows Asia, who poses as a newly-hired maid at The Virgil, an old Manhattan hotel adorned with overtly satanic décor. Welcomed by the mysterious manager Lily (Patricia Arquette), Asia's first night takes a turn when cultists attack her. The film initially promises a viciously enjoyable midnight action romp with blood sprays and a spaghetti Western-inspired score. However, the supernatural element of the premise is soon revealed, with body parts magically snapping back into place, hinting at the villains' deal with the devil. This wrinkle immediately rips the air out of the room, as each hack, slash, and gunshot loses its sting, thanks to the villains' temporary immortality.

It's about a woman who takes a job as a housekeeper in a NYC high-rise, unaware of the building’s history of disappearances. She soon realizes the community is shrouded in mystery and must fight for her life.

The film stars Zazie Beetz, Myha'la, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton, Heather Graham, and Patricia Arquette.

The film draws inspiration from Quentin Tarantino and Sam Raimi, but it struggles to blend horror and comedy effectively.
