Superman Extended Clip Leaks Online, Officially Released by James Gunn

The extended preview footage, initially shown to industry insiders at CinemaCon, found its way online following Thursday preview screenings of 'A Minecraft Movie' on April 3, 2025. Warner Bros. acted quickly to remove the leaks, but director James Gunn took matters into his own hands, officially releasing the high-quality clip via his social media channels shortly thereafter.

The clip itself begins similarly to previously teased footage, with a whistling Superman summoning Krypto after crashing in the arctic. Krypto's enthusiastic, dog-like greeting involves jumping on the injured Superman, a moment that has drawn varied reactions online. Superman commands Krypto to take him home, leading to a scene where the super-dog drags his master across the tundra towards a crystalline Fortress of Solitude that forms before them.

Inside, automatons attend to Superman, placing him in a solar-powered healing chamber. A brief interaction highlights the robots' lack of sentience. The preview transitions into footage resembling the main trailer before concluding with Superman leaving the Fortress, allowing a whimpering Krypto to tag along.

At CinemaCon, Gunn shared insights into his approach. He revealed he was first offered the project in 2018 but chose 'The Suicide Squad' instead, finding the task of modernizing Superman daunting at the time. He eventually found his angle: "a story that was utterly human, utterly fantastic," aiming for a movie that "celebrates kindness and human love." Gunn also humorously recounted how his own challenging rescue dog, Ozu, inspired Krypto's portrayal, imagining the chaos if *that* dog had superpowers.

It shows an injured Superman crash-landing in the arctic, being greeted playfully (perhaps too playfully for an injured hero) by Krypto the Superdog, entering a newly formed Fortress of Solitude, and being placed in a solar healing chamber operated by non-sentient automatons.

The film, titled 'Superman', is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025.

James Gunn, known for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'The Suicide Squad', wrote and directed the film.
