On July 23, 2025, Jermel Jones, while working as Chuck E. Cheese, was apprehended by Tallahassee police. The arrest occurred amidst customers and was captured on bodycam video, showing officers struggling to handcuff Jones in costume. The police were responding to accusations that Jones had stolen and used a customer's credit card, which the customer had last used during her child's birthday party at the restaurant.

Jones initially denied any wrongdoing, claiming he only used his Cash App. However, he later admitted to sometimes using a cousin's card. Police reports indicate that the victim's debit card was found in Jones’ pocket, and surveillance footage allegedly showed him using the card at other stores.

The incident led to Jones being charged with multiple felonies. A Chuck E. Cheese spokesperson stated that appropriate action had been taken regarding the employee. Jones was released on a $1,000 bond the next morning.
