The threats, which occurred between July 28 and August 27, included warnings of active shooters and potential bombings. Maki was arrested on September 6 and charged on September 8. Austin Blair, who was initially detained, was later released.

Detroit City FC has taken swift action, terminating Maki’s employment to protect the club’s reputation and ensure the safety of its supporters and staff. The club acknowledged the seriousness of the matter and emphasized its commitment to the well-being of its community.

While the legal proceedings continue, this incident adds to a period of turmoil for Detroit City FC, which has recently faced challenges including stadium construction setbacks and the departure of key executives. The club is also preparing to open AlumniFi Field for the 2027 season.
