Fort Worth Police Release Video of Officer-Involved Shootings

On May 16, 2026, Fort Worth police responded to multiple 911 calls regarding gunshots in the 4200 block of Wiman Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered a large party and heard additional shots being fired. According to police, a suspect armed with a handgun pointed the weapon at officers after failing to comply with commands to drop it. At least one officer fired, resulting in the suspect's death.

While investigating the initial shooting, officers observed a white SUV speeding through the area multiple times. Police stated that the driver appeared to be intentionally trying to hit officers. A pursuit ensued, ending when officers stopped the vehicle near Interstate 820 and Lancaster Avenue. The suspect allegedly grabbed an officer's handgun, leading multiple officers to fire, killing the suspect. One officer was injured during this second encounter.

The release of the bodycam and dashcam footage is intended to provide more context and transparency regarding these incidents. The investigation is ongoing.
