The chase concluded when the suspect crashed on 35th Street and National Avenue, colliding with other vehicles and injuring a 34-year-old. The suspect then exited the vehicle and opened fire on the officers, who responded by returning fire.

The Milwaukee Police Association issued a statement emphasizing the dangers officers face and the rapid decisions they must make, contrasting these realities with the city's reported decline in homicides during the first quarter of 2026. The union stressed that real-time events often differ significantly from statistical trends.

All officers involved have been placed on administrative duty, which is standard procedure. The investigation is ongoing, with video footage to be released to the victim's family within 48 hours and to the public within 15 days, per department policy.
