Animal Activists Arrested After Ridglan Farms Break-in

On Sunday morning, a group of animal rights activists broke into Ridglan Farms, a facility that breeds beagles for biomedical research. According to reports, between 50 and 60 protesters entered the property, and some began removing dogs. Law enforcement responded to the scene, resulting in the arrest of around 20 individuals on charges including trespassing.

Ridglan Farms has been under scrutiny following an animal welfare investigation, which led to an agreement to surrender its DATC breeding license by July 1. Despite this agreement, activists argue that thousands of dogs remain confined and subjected to abuse.

The activists claim the beagles are kept in small, unsanitary cages without adequate care. Ridglan Farms spokesperson Jim Newman refuted these claims, asserting that the dogs are in good health and not suffering. The Dane County Sheriff's Office has encouraged peaceful dialogue and lawful avenues for addressing concerns about animal welfare.
