Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Train Stabbing

On Saturday evening, a stabbing attack occurred on a London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train traveling from Doncaster to London King's Cross. The train made an emergency stop at Huntingdon station following reports of multiple stabbings. Armed officers arrived and arrested two men, one of whom was later released without charge.

Anthony Williams, the charged individual, is also accused of a separate knife attack at Pontoon Dock station on London's DLR network. The British Transport Police (BTP) are conducting ongoing investigations into the incident.

The attack has led to increased police presence at major stations to reassure the public. Former British Transport Police chief constable Andy Trotter has called for a broader review of security on trains.

Police have confirmed that the attack is not being treated as terror-related.

Eleven people were treated in hospital after the attack, with some remaining in critical condition.
