The Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT) is organizing the 29th annual Emancipation Vigil at Seville Great House and Heritage Park. The event, which runs from July 31st to August 1st, will feature performances from artists like Gem Myers and The Abyssinians, along with cultural showcases from groups like the Charles Town Maroons. Free chocolate tea will be provided. Admission is free, with tickets available at JNHT offices and the Seville Heritage Park. The event will also be streamed live on social media.

Diaspora Celebrations in Maryland:

The Jamaican diaspora in the Washington, DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area gathered at the Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church in Takoma Park, Maryland, for a thanksgiving service. Ambassador Antony Anderson addressed the gathering, emphasizing the theme 'Be Proud. Be Bold. In the Black, Green, and Gold,' and lauded the diaspora's contributions. The service also included the presentation of the DMV Jamaica Diaspora Awards to individuals and organizations. Offerings collected will support the Hanover Infirmary in Jamaica.

Flag Raising in Paterson, NJ:

Paterson, New Jersey, is hosting its annual Jamaican Flag Raising Ceremony outside City Hall on August 1st. Mayor Andre Sayegh and other city officials will join the Jamaica Organization of New Jersey to celebrate the city's vibrant Jamaican community.

The Emancipation Vigil is being held at Seville Heritage Park in St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica.

They gathered at the Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church in Takoma Park, Maryland.

The ceremony is taking place outside City Hall in Paterson.
