Harris County Judge Faces Scrutiny After Viral Video

The controversy began when Judge Milliron was recorded snapping at an IT staffer who was assisting him with computer issues. Following this, attorney James Stafford emailed the judge, advising him to apologize for his behavior. In response, Judge Milliron ordered Stafford to appear in court, accusing him of improper communication.

While Stafford did not attend the hearing, members of the HCCLA showed up in support, monitoring the proceedings to ensure no unlawful actions were taken against him. Brent Mayr, president of the HCCLA, stated that their presence was to ensure proper procedures were followed.

Wade Smith, chair of the HCCLA’s Strike Force Committee, argued that Stafford was exercising his First Amendment rights by expressing his opinion to an elected official. The HCCLA has not yet filed a judicial complaint but is closely monitoring the situation, with other complaints reportedly filed. Judge Milliron has not commented on the matter.
