Karen Read Files Lawsuit Alleging Frame-Up in Boyfriend's Death

The complaint also targets Michael Proctor, the lead investigator, accusing him of misconduct and bias due to undisclosed ties to the Alberts. Proctor was later fired from the Massachusetts State Police for his handling of the case. The lawsuit seeks unspecified financial damages and aims to hold the defendants accountable for their alleged actions.

Read accuses them of malicious prosecution, conspiracy, civil rights violations, and intentional misconduct in framing her for the murder of John O’Keefe.

The defendants include former State Police investigator Michael Proctor, his supervisors Yuri Bukhenik and Brian Tully, and individuals who were at the Albert residence on the night of O’Keefe’s death, such as Brian and Nicole Albert, Jennifer and Matthew McCabe, and Brian Higgins.

The defendants deny the allegations, calling them false, defamatory, and without merit. They accuse Read of continuing a baseless conspiracy narrative.
