Bay Village High School Lacrosse Player Dies After Game Injury

On May 7, 2025, Dylan Veselic, a Bay Village High School lacrosse player, was critically injured during a game against Olmsted Falls. According to reports, the injury occurred when Veselic attempted to block a shot and the ball struck him at the base of the head, below his helmet. He was immediately taken to the hospital and underwent surgery, but unfortunately, he passed away two days later.

The Bay Village and Olmsted Falls communities have come together to support the Veselic family. Bay Village Superintendent Scot Prebles and Olmsted Falls Superintendent Dr. Jim Lloyd have both released statements expressing their condolences and offering support to students and staff. Counselors and administrators are available to help students cope with their grief.

A prayer service was held at St. Raphael Church in Bay Village on Thursday, and a Meal Train was organized to provide meals and support to the Veselic family. The Meal Train has already raised over $30,000, demonstrating the community's generosity and care.

The Bay Village Boys Lacrosse team posted on X (formerly Twitter), expressing their gratitude for the outpouring of support and asking for continued thoughts and prayers.
