Rapper Elijah Mayo, also known as 88Dub, was fatally shot after allegedly pointing a handgun at officers. His father disputes the police account, claiming his son was trying to protect himself.

This led to a 15-minute chase that ended off Interstate 820 near Lancaster Avenue. After the driver allegedly attempted to grab an officer's gun, multiple officers opened fire, resulting in the death of Jorge Contreras. One officer sustained injuries during the second incident and was treated at a hospital.
The Fort Worth Police Department released body and dashcam footage of the shootings during a press conference led by Police Chief Eddie Garcia. The investigation is ongoing.
