Knoxville Community Rallies as Abused Dog Finds Forever Home

The Knoxville Police Department and Young-Williams Animal Center (YWAC) are working together to investigate a disturbing case of suspected animal cruelty. On Monday, May 6, officers found two abandoned terrier mixes in a parking lot on E. Emerald Ave. One of the dogs was deceased, with a bag tied over its head. The surviving dog, though unharmed, was found near a second bag similar to the one on her sister.

YWAC staff searched the neighborhood but were unable to locate the dogs' owner. The surviving dog was taken to the center for evaluation and care. The community rallied around the surviving dog, and Young-Williams Animal Center announced on Friday, May 9, that she was heading to her forever home. Rachel Ide, YWAC Director of Animal Services, continues to ask for information to find justice for the deceased dog.
