The search for Riggs involved the community, with volunteers assisting in the effort. A tracking dog was brought in, but the scent was lost near Highway 287, leading to the assumption that Riggs may have been picked up during the storm. The fire department even offered a reward, increasing it to $2,500, for his safe return.
