Major Home Explosion Rocks St. Louis County, Injuring Several

The explosion on Candlewyck Club Drive triggered a massive response from the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District and the Black Jack Fire Protection District. Jason Merrill, a spokesman for Spire, stated that the company is cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of the explosion. Spire's initial investigation found no issues with its gas lines and no record of recent excavation work in the area that might have damaged a gas line. This suggests the cause may be something other than a ruptured gas line.

Structural engineers assessed the damage to the buildings, providing guidance on which homes were safe to enter. Buildings in the area were without power and gas, and a local firehouse is accepting donations of water, toiletries, and other necessities for displaced residents.

The St. Louis County Police Department has blocked off entry points to the affected street and is patrolling to prevent looting. The community is rallying to support those who have lost their homes and belongings.

The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation. Spire, the local gas company, found no issues with its gas infrastructure, but the investigation is ongoing.

Donations of water, toiletries, and other necessities can be dropped off at the fire district's firehouse on North Highway 67.
