Huckabee's Israel Land Remarks Spark Controversy

Speaking on Tucker Carlson's podcast, Huckabee asserted that Israel would be justified in claiming all the land between the Nile River and the Euphrates River, citing a biblical interpretation. A joint statement released by the United Arab Emirates' foreign ministry, and signed by numerous Arab and Islamic nations, denounced Huckabee's comments as "dangerous and inflammatory," arguing that they contravene the UN Charter and efforts to achieve a comprehensive settlement in the region. Individual countries also issued strong condemnations, reflecting the depth of concern over Huckabee's remarks.

Huckabee attempted to clarify his position, calling his initial statement "somewhat of a hyperbolic statement." However, this has done little to quell the controversy, as critics argue that the initial remarks reflect a dangerous disregard for international law and the sovereignty of neighboring states.

The UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, and the State of Palestine, among others, issued condemnations.

Saudi Arabia described Huckabee’s words as “reckless” and “irresponsible”.
