Body Found in Search for Missing Kayaker Dustin Valencia in Lake Lanier

Dustin Valencia, a father of five, went missing on Lake Lanier after going kayaking. His wife reported him missing when he didn't pick up their children from school. Authorities found his car and belongings near Little Ridge Park. The search intensified after his kayak and paddle were found floating in the lake. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have been involved in the search. A body was recovered on Friday, May 16th, but has not yet been officially identified. Lake Lanier has a grim history, with more than 200 deaths recorded since 1994, contributing to its reputation as a dangerous body of water. The lake was formed in the 1950s by flooding communities, displacing many families.
