Hawaii Hit by Severe Flooding: $1 Billion in Damages

The recent severe storms in Hawaii have unleashed historic flooding, leading to widespread damage and displacement. Two consecutive storms dumped as much as 50 inches of rain on parts of the state, submerging sections of Oahu and prompting mass evacuations. Governor Josh Green estimates the damages could exceed $1 billion, impacting airports, roads, homes, and a Maui hospital.

The flooding has been described as the worst in 20 years, with more than 230 people rescued and thousands remaining without power.
