Oklahoma Launches New Safety Standards for Public Events

Governor Kevin Stitt, along with Commissioner of Public Safety Tim Tipton, announced the Secure Oklahoma N.O.W. Initiative to elevate safety standards at public events. The Secure Oklahoma N.O.W. Advisory Council developed an event safety guide to serve as a statewide standard for public event security, encompassing concerts, parades, fairs, and sporting events.

The initiative encourages all police, fire, and emergency management teams to implement the best practices outlined in the Secure Oklahoma N.O.W. guide, which is available on the Secure Oklahoma Now website.

It is a statewide effort to raise the standard of safety and coordination at major public events in Oklahoma.

Resources include the Oklahoma Counter Terrorism Intelligence Center, the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, and the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety Drone Response Team.
