Tampa Apartment Shooting Leaves One Dead, Five Wounded

Early Thursday morning, Tampa police responded to a shooting at the Crown Pointe Apartments on Woodville Street. Upon arrival, they discovered three victims with gunshot wounds. A 17-year-old boy, who was critically injured, later died at the hospital. Two other men, ages 21 and 19, were also found at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries.

Approximately 30 minutes later, officers were dispatched to West Platt and South Willow Avenue, where two additional victims reported being shot at the same apartment complex. A sixth victim arrived at a local hospital on their own.

Detectives are investigating the possibility that the shooting was the result of a prior disagreement. The incident took place shortly after a Florida appeals court overturned a ban on openly carrying firearms, reigniting debates about gun control in the state. Governor Ron DeSantis has supported the court's decision.
