Zamboanga Authorities Combat Smuggling and Support Drug Reform

The BOC's intensified border enforcement led to the seizure of 370 master cases of smuggled cigarettes and 250 sacks of sand containing broken corals. The seized marine materials violate the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 and Batas Pambansa Blg. 265, while the smuggled cigarettes violate the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and related regulations.

Meanwhile, the Balay Silangan Reformation Program provides critical livelihood training to PWUDs, equipping them with skills in carpentry and masonry. This initiative aims to reduce recidivism by enabling reformists to secure employment and contribute positively to their communities. The program's success is a collaborative effort involving local government units, PDEA, and other stakeholders.
