The City of Mebane issued an alert on Sunday night regarding the potential failure of Lake Michael Dam due to heavy rain and flooding from Tropical Depression Chantal. The Mebane Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, and Mebane Fire Department notified residents within the 'breach inundation zone' of a voluntary evacuation. Areas such as Tupelo Junction Subdivision and Retriever Lane were also alerted.

In Robeson County, severe flooding has turned yards into 'lakes and ponds,' according to local residents. One road in the Orrum community is submerged, and the Maxton Police Department has advised drivers to avoid unnecessary travel. Chief Meteorologist Ed Piotrowski reported that Lumberton saw three inches of rain in just one hour.
