Dem Defends DOJ Obtaining GOP Senators' Call Records

The controversy stems from a document revealing that Jack Smith and his team were allegedly tracking the phone calls of several GOP senators, including Lindsey Graham, Marsha Blackburn, and Josh Hawley, among others. The records were collected in 2023 after subpoenaing major telephone providers. This action has ignited a debate over the balance between national security and individual privacy, with Republicans decrying it as political persecution and Democrats arguing it was necessary to investigate the events surrounding January 6th.

The FBI was able to see which phone numbers the senators called, the location the phone call originated, and the location where it was received.
