The Minnesota Twins faced a tough start to their season, falling 9-0 to the Chicago White Sox, a team that lost a franchise-record 121 games the previous year. The game quickly got out of hand for Minnesota.

Starting pitcher Chris Paddack struggled significantly in his season debut, lasting only 3⅓ innings. He allowed nine earned runs on nine hits, matching career highs in runs, earned runs, walks (four), and home runs allowed (three). The White Sox offense capitalized early, with Andrew Vaughn hitting a three-run homer in the first inning after Paddack labored through 32 pitches. Andrew Benintendi added another three-run homer in the second, and Michael A. Taylor hit a two-run shot in the third.

On the other side, former Twin Martín Pérez dominated his old team. The left-hander pitched six scoreless, hitless innings, striking out nine batters and tying his career high. The Twins didn't manage a hit until the seventh inning when Willi Castro lined a single off reliever Mike Vasil. The game was so lopsided that key players Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa were removed in the fourth inning, and utility player Willi Castro was brought in to pitch the eighth inning.

This marks the fifth time in franchise history the Twins have started a season 0-4, the first occurrence since their 0-9 start in 2016. Through four games, the Twins have been outscored 28-6.
