VaSID Honors McKay, Metheny, Peter, Skinn, and Billups

Why this matters: These awards highlight the exceptional talent and coaching within Virginia's college basketball programs, showcasing their contributions to the sport.

Ritchie McKay led Liberty to a 28-7 overall record, capturing both the CUSA regular season and tournament titles. This marked Liberty's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last seven years. McKay also achieved the most wins in program history, with 272 victories in his 12 years with the Flames.

Tony Skinn guided George Mason to a share of their first-ever A-10 regular-season title and their first NIT victory since 2004. The Patriots achieved a school record-tying 27 overall victories and set a new school record for Atlantic 10 league victories (15).

Kaden Metheny was an All-CUSA second-team honoree and CUSA Championship MVP. He averaged a team-best 20.3 points per game during the CUSA Championship, making 16 three-pointers in three games.

Taelon Peter was named CUSA Sixth Player of the Year and earned All-CUSA third-team honors. He led the team in scoring with 13.7 points per game despite limited starts and set a new school single-season record for three-point percentage.

Jared Billups, the A-10 Defensive Player of the Year, became George Mason's first conference Defensive Player of the Year since 2001. Billups' defensive prowess is demonstrated by opponents shooting just 28.9 percent when guarded by him.

Jalen Haynes earned a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 First Team, ranking second in the A-10 in field goal percentage (.554) and averaging 14.0 points per game in league play.

Darius Maddox earned a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 Third Team and also garnered A-10 All-Tournament Team honors. He was second on the team in scoring (13.8 ppg) and led the team in 3pt FG made (68) and minutes/game (32.3).
