Gervonta Davis Responds to Jake Paul Fight Cancellation, Eyes Isaac Cruz

Gervonta 'Tank' Davis has responded to the cancellation of his planned exhibition bout with Jake Paul, initially scheduled for November 14. Davis suggests Paul's struggles during training camp were the real reason for the fight's demise, despite Paul publicly stating that Davis's ongoing civil lawsuit was the cause. The lawsuit includes accusations of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Davis took to social media to express his views, stating that Paul was getting “his a** beat in camp.” He further claimed that everything happens for a reason. This statement contradicts Paul's claim that the fight was cancelled due to the serious allegations against Davis. Following the cancellation, Paul quickly moved on to secure a sanctioned heavyweight fight against Anthony Joshua, set for December 19.

Davis has now turned his attention to Isaac Cruz, stating his intention to fight him next, once his knee recovers. Cruz previously faced Davis in 2021, becoming the first opponent to take him the full twelve-round distance. Despite Davis winning by unanimous decision, he claimed to have injured his hand early in the fight, limiting his signature power punches. While Davis has expressed interest in a rematch, some speculate he may choose to retire instead.
