Sherrone Moore Seeks Dismissal of Charges

His attorney, Ellen Michaels, asserts that the arrest warrant was based on false and misleading information provided by the complaining witness’s lawyer, Heidi Sharp. The defense is seeking a "Franks Hearing" to determine whether police recklessly included false statements in the warrant application.

Michaels argues that Sharp, representing the athletic department employee with whom Moore had an inappropriate relationship, aimed to "villainize Mr. Moore and maximize the chances of obtaining a large settlement from the deep pockets of the University of Michigan." She claims that police relied on misinformation from Sharp, including allegations that Moore had a history of domestic violence and stalked her client for months, which Michaels says are false.

The defense does not deny the affair but argues that the narrative presented by police and Sharp is misleading. Michaels highlights instances where the woman reportedly told police that Moore did not physically assault her and that his actions were directed toward himself, reflecting an emotional crisis involving self-harm.

The case has been adjourned until March 19, with a hearing on the motion to dismiss scheduled for Feb. 17. Prosecutors have until Feb. 2 to respond to the defense's request.
