Moody highlighted that Krishna has primarily been an impact bowler in the middle overs, and using him in the Powerplay against MI's experienced openers was a miscalculation. He suggested that a left-arm spinner like Washington Sundar could have been a more effective option to start the innings, potentially disrupting MI's batting strategy. Despite dismissing Rohit later in the innings, Krishna ended up being GT's most expensive bowler, conceding 53 runs in his spell, as Mumbai Indians posted the highest-ever IPL total at the Mullanpur Stadium.

Due to the absence of Kagiso Rabada, Shubman Gill entrusted Krishna to open the bowling.
