Following the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 final, marred by several on-field and off-field incidents, the CAF Disciplinary Board has taken decisive action against both Senegal and Morocco. The sanctions range from match suspensions for key players and coaches to hefty fines for both federations.
Pape Bouna Thiaw, Senegal's coach, received a significant five-match suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct, stemming from his actions and the subsequent behavior of his team. Players Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaïla Sarr also faced two-match suspensions for their conduct towards the referee.
Morocco's Achraf Hakimi is suspended for two matches, and Ismaël Saibari received a three-match ban. The Moroccan federation faces fines for the conduct of ball retrievers, the national team's staff, and supporters, including the use of lasers during the match.
The CAF Disciplinary Board also dismissed Morocco's appeal concerning Senegal's alleged violations of tournament regulations.
