Akron Marathon 2025: Road Closures, Weather Forecast, and New Course

The 2025 Akron Marathon introduces a reimagined course that highlights Akron's most notable landmarks, celebrating the city's 200th anniversary. The race begins at the Akron Art Museum and concludes near the Akron Civic Theatre. Key areas along the route include South Akron (Miles 1-3), Firestone Park (Miles 3-5), and Sand Run Metro Park (Miles 17-19).

Road closures will be in effect to ensure runner safety. Participants and spectators can find detailed closure information and an interactive map on the Akron Marathon website. The Kids Fun Run will take place on Friday, September 26, starting at 6 p.m. on W. Bowery Street and ending at Lock 3.

According to the National Weather Service, the weather on Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 79°F (26°C). Runners should prepare for these conditions to ensure a comfortable and safe race.

The Akron Marathon has grown significantly since its inception, now featuring nearly 15,000 runners across three races. The event not only promotes health and fitness but also galvanizes the Akron community, generating substantial economic impact.
