Isaac Collins Emerges as NL Rookie of the Year Contender

Isaac Collins' path to becoming a key player for the Brewers is an unconventional one. Drafted by the Rockies and later acquired by Milwaukee in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft, Collins wasn't initially seen as a top prospect. However, his performance in the minor leagues and his strong start in the majors have proven his worth.

Collins' defensive abilities in left field have been particularly noteworthy, as he leads all major league left fielders in Outs Above Average (OAA). Offensively, his ability to draw walks and avoid chasing pitches, coupled with timely hitting, has made him a valuable part of the Brewers' lineup.

While some of his offensive stats may be buoyed by a high BABIP (batting average on balls in play), his underlying skills suggest that he can maintain a high level of performance. As the Brewers navigate injuries to key players, Collins' role becomes even more critical.

As of early August 2025, Collins has the second-best odds at +275, trailing only Drake Baldwin (-150).

The Brewers acquired Collins in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft from the Colorado Rockies.

His elite strike zone judgment, defensive skills, and ability to get on base.
