Daniel Robert, a 31-year-old pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, experienced a medical emergency during spring training. After completing a bullpen session, Robert suffered a cardiac event, prompting immediate medical attention from the team's staff. This incident follows a similar event in October, where Robert collapsed during a training session. Following the initial event, doctors implanted a cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) to regulate his heart rhythm. The device activated during the recent incident, indicating a continued underlying issue.

Manager Rob Thomson expressed his concern, stating the situation was “very scary”. Robert was promptly transported to a local hospital and has since been released. The Phillies have not yet released details regarding Robert’s future with the team, but his health remains the top priority.

Robert's journey to the Phillies includes being drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2017 and later traded to Philadelphia in 2025. He made 15 appearances for the Phillies, demonstrating promise with 15 strikeouts in 13 innings.

An ICD is a device implanted near the chest to monitor heart rhythm and deliver electrical shocks to restore a normal heartbeat if a dangerous arrhythmia is detected.

He is currently stable, out of the hospital, and feeling fine, according to manager Rob Thomson.
