Leagues Cup 2025: MLS vs. Liga MX Showdown

Leagues Cup 2025 will be played in two phases: Phase One (group stage) and the Knockout Rounds. Phase One sees teams divided into Eastern and Western regions, with clubs from each league competing in league-specific tables. The top four clubs from both MLS and Liga MX tables advance to the Knockout Rounds.

Inter Miami's schedule includes home matches against Atlas F.C (July 30), Club Necaxa (Aug. 2), and Pumas UNAM (Aug. 6) at Chase Stadium. The Portland Timbers will host Atlético San Luis (July 30) and Querétaro FC (Aug. 2) at Providence Park, and travel to face Club América in Austin, Texas on August 6. All matches will be broadcast on the Apple TV app, with selected matches on TelevisaUnivision, TV Azteca, FOX Sports, TSN, and RDS.

Former Chivas coach Óscar García Junyent noted the increasing strategic value of the Leagues Cup, particularly for talent evaluation and cross-league transfers. He believes the gap between MLS and Liga MX is closing, driven by MLS's continuous improvement and Liga MX's acquisition of top European talent.
