However, the 'Try It On' feature has faced criticism due to its potential for misuse. The tool's tendency to alter body shapes and generate inappropriate images raises ethical questions about AI's role in shaping body image and the potential for creating non-consensual explicit content. Despite Google's efforts to implement safeguards, the tool's flaws highlight the challenges in preventing the misuse of AI technologies.

The issue is that the 'Try It On' feature draws from Google’s “Shopping Graph,” a dataset of more than 50 billion online products. Many of these clothes are displayed on models whose bodies conform to hyper-idealized body standards. When the feature is used to dress people in clothing, the tool distorts their bodies to match the original model’s.
