Qatar Airways Slashes London Flights: What Travelers Need to Know

Qatar Airways' decision to reduce London flights stems from shifts in demand and operational factors. The most significant changes will occur between April and June, with a 14% reduction in flights. While a further decrease is expected between July and October, it will be less drastic (3-5%).

The reduction impacts both Heathrow and Gatwick. Gatwick will see services drop from two daily flights to 11 weekly flights. Heathrow will experience a reduction from 59 weekly departures to 48. These changes will affect passengers' ability to book flights on their preferred dates and times.

Doha is a key hub for connecting flights, especially for passengers traveling from London to the Middle East and Asia. The top five destinations for connecting passengers are India, Pakistan, Australia, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. British Airways, a oneworld alliance partner with Qatar Airways, will maintain its Doha services, providing continued direct connections between the two cities. Travelers should consider BA as an alternative option. Other European cities like Venice and Warsaw are also experiencing reduced Qatar Airways services.
