Data from the Department of Transportation (DOT) reveals a concerning trend: a rise in reported sexual assault allegations on Disney cruises. In 2023, there were 15 reported assaults, and in 2024, the number increased to 18. The first quarter of 2025 saw five assault allegations. Disney Cruise Line states they have zero tolerance for such behavior and cooperate with law enforcement. The increase in reports coincides with Disney's expansion of its fleet. The Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act of 2010 (CVSSA) mandates that passengers have access to medical care and the ability to report assaults.

Port of Galveston: Expansion and New Cruise Options

The Port of Galveston is set to have another banner year with new cruise lines and a new terminal. Despite Princess Cruises canceling 17 cruises, MSC Cruises will launch from Galveston for the first time in November from the new Pier 16 terminal. Other cruise lines like Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival are also increasing their presence in Galveston, offering a variety of Caribbean itineraries. Passengers should be aware of a new $5 in-transit fee for those docking in Mexico, which will increase over the next three years. Cruise lines accept valid passports, birth certificates, or state-issued IDs with Real ID for boarding.
